UTU plans forums on rule changes

The FRA is promulgating significant rule changes in the next month that will affect rail workers and the rail workplace environment, said Phil Qualy, UTU state legislative director.

"We are concerned that these rule changes may be one of the Bush administration\’s closing attempts to railroad our train crews and maintenance-of-way workers," he said. "Our railroad workers must apprise themselves of the law changes and know their rights and responsibilities."

The FRA will co-host the seminars. The forums are Thursday, April 24, from 1 to 6 p.m. at the Duluth Labor Temple and Saturday, April 26, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the St. Paul Labor & Professional Centre.
